Astro Bot is a 2024 platform video game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. It is the fifth overall entry to the Astro Bot series after Astro's Playroom (2020), and the first game to have been developed by Team Asobi since its separation from Japan Studio. As Astro, the player embarks on a quest to save Lost Bots and PlayStation 5 mothership parts and defeat the alien named Space Bully Nebulax, which had destroyed the mothership. The game was released to celebrate the PlayStation gaming brand's 30th anniversary.
Astro Bot was a critical and commercial success. The game received universal acclaim from critics and is considered to be one of the best games of 2024. Critics positively compared the game to Nintendo franchises, particularly the Super Mario series, which game director Nicolas Doucet cited as an influence on the game. Astro Bot has won numerous awards, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024. Astro Bot has sold 1.5 million units as of November 2024, making it one of the best-selling PlayStation 5 games.
